
Bill Black
For 28 years, Bill was a physician-researcher at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DMHC), publishing extensively in the peer-reviewed medical literature. After receiving his medical training at the Virginia Medical College and the University of Virginia, he joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he worked for 3 years. In 1991, DMHC recruited Bill to serve as a bridge between outcomes research and clinical practice at the institution. He served on the Executive Committee of an NIH funded National Lung Cancer Screen Trial and Principal Investigator for a substudy that evaluated the effectiveness of lung cancer screening. A resident of Hanover, Bill has an adult daughter with a learning disability and seizure disorder, who lives at Visions’ Green Street Commons, in Lebanon.

Maggie Byers
With 18 years of dedicated service at Mascoma Bank, Maggie possesses expertise in the field of information security and enterprise risk management. Following her transition into the IT field in 2017, she ascended to the role of Director of Information Security in 2022 and then VP Technology Risk in 2024. Over the past five years, her contributions have been transformative: forming a specialized information security team, enhancing IT audit efficiency, launching an IT security awareness program, and implementing a robust IT GRC framework. She is an advocate for diversity in technology, serving on the Hartford Area Career Technology Center’s Advisory Board. Maggie lives in Hartford, VT with her blended family, some of whom live with diagnoses such as intellectual disabled, bipolar, and cerebral palsy.

Nick Estes
From the beginning, Nick knew he wanted to join the family business–a local real estate construction firm founded by his parents over 50 years ago. After completing his Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences and a Bachelor’s in construction management, Nick spent six years gaining industry experience before joining Estes & Gallup. Today, the firm is one of the most highly regarded construction companies in the Upper Valley. In addition to their residential and commercial work, Nick has overseen several low-income housing projects, including Green Street Commons and Spruce House for Visions and Tracy Street for Twin Pines Housing. Nick’s connections to the community run deep, serving on Vital Communities Corporate Council and as board member of the Hanover Improvement Society. He is the parent of a daughter who is a Visions resident.

Toby Fried
During his 26-year career running the iconic Lou’s Restaurant & Bakery–and its catering business–in the heart of Hanover, NH, Toby developed deep connections to the Upper Valley business community. Previously a pastry chef for such places as the Ritz Carlton in Boston, Toby started as an industrial engineer working for Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and CTI Cryogenics. Throughout his career, Toby has focused on identifying ways to make the workplace operationally more efficient. After retirement in 2018, Toby began assisting Meals on Wheels, bringing healthy meals to seniors and home-bound adults throughout New Hampshire. A long-time volunteer and supporter of Visions, Toby and his wife live in Enfield and have a daughter who lives at the Visions Spruce House location in Hanover.

Scott Gilmore
In 1991, Scott joined creare.x, a spin-off of Creare LLC, an engineering research and development firm located in Hanover, NH. The world leader in computational fluids dynamics simulation software, creare.x became Fluent, which was then acquired by Ansys in 2006. Now, as a member of the Product Management Leadership Team at Ansys, Scott interfaces with customers, business leaders, sales teams, technical experts, and software development teams across the globe. Scott holds BS and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware. He lives in Enfield, NH, where he served on the board of his homeowner’s association for several years. He is the father of two adult daughters, one of whom is a resident at Sunrise Farm.

Susan Hanifin
Now Executive Director of Gift Planning, Susan Hanifin, has a 25 year career in development at Dartmouth College. In her current role, Susan manages a staff of six and a comprehensive gift planning development program which includes bequests, trusts, annuities, donor advised funds, and gifts of complex assets. She works closely with Leadership Giving and Principal Gifts Officers to maximize donors’ philanthropy to Dartmouth. Susan and her colleagues also manage a group of 50 volunteers who promote gift planning within their classes. She holds a BA from Hamilton College and her JD from SUNY Buffalo Law School. Susan is admitted to the New York State Bar. She lives in Hanover with her husband and their three children.

Suzy Henderson
Suzy started her career in disability services in 1998 at the Ottauquechee School in Quechee Vermont, where she was a paraprofessional supporting a child in 1st grade with significant developmental disabilities. After completing her degree in occupational therapy, she joined the Hartford School District where she provided occupational therapy services from 2005-2022. Since 2009, Suzy has worked part-time as a personal support mentor at Visions for Creative Housing Solutions, moving to full-time during the COVID pandemic, when she became a House Manager at their location in Lebanon. In 2022, she became a Mental Health Case Manager for Children, Youth and Families at HCRS (Health Care and Rehabilitation Services of Vermont). Suzy lives in White River Junction, Vermont.

Reese Madden
Reese is a Senior Director of Corporate Marketing and Revenue Operations at Hypertherm Associates, an industrial cutting technologies company, located in Hanover, NH. Hypertherm provides paid time off for its employees to volunteer at Visions and dozens of other local non-profits and is proud to have a Visions resident working on its manufacturing team. Reese has been a volunteer program administrator for Ford Sayre Ski Club and served on the boards of Twin Pines Housing Trust and the Friends of the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD). He is a graduate of Bates College and earned his MBA at the Tuck School at Dartmouth. Reese lives in Norwich, VT with his wife and two daughters, both Hanover High School students.
